Robust, permanent reference bolt for monitoring vertical settlement and leveling of buildings and structures.
The Geolook G92-700BS Building Settlement Marker is a heavy-duty reference point designed for the long-term monitoring of vertical displacement (settlement or heave). Unlike temporary survey nails, these markers are permanently installed into the structural elements of a building—such as columns or foundation walls. The marker consists of a high-strength stainless steel bolt with a precision-machined hemispherical head. This design ensures that the surveyor’s leveling staff or digital level probe always rests on the exact same high point during every monitoring round, providing sub-millimeter repeatability for settlement analysis.

In settlement monitoring, the difference between 1mm and 2mm of movement is critical. If a surveyor uses a flat-headed bolt, the leveling staff might rest on a different part of the head each time, introducing 'human error' into the data.
The G92-700BS solves this with its domed head. Because the top of the dome is a single point, the leveling staff naturally centers itself, ensuring that every measurement is taken from the exact same vertical datum throughout the project's life.
Monitoring projects in cities often face challenges from weather, pollution, and vandalism. Our markers are made from 316-grade stainless steel to ensure they do not rust or 'bleed' onto building facades. The optional protective cap keeps the measurement surface clean and prevents unauthorized personnel from interfering with the reference point.
For the most stable results, the marker should be installed into the load-bearing structure (concrete or stone) rather than just the architectural cladding. A hole is drilled into the structure, and the ribbed shank of the G92-700BS is secured using a non-shrink structural epoxy or cementitious grout.
The G92-700BS is fully compatible with high-precision digital levels (e.g., Leica LS15 or Trimble DiNi). The hemispherical head provides an ideal base for the invar leveling staff, allowing for 'First-Order' leveling accuracy, which is essential for detecting the very start of structural distress.
